During a copyedit, I conform your draft to the appropriate style guide; correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar; query suspected factual errors; and work on the sentence level to tighten and refine your work. Redundancy, poor word choice, overuse of the passive, inconsistencies, and clumsy sentence structures are cleared away so that your voice and content shines!
THE SKINNY: For books, I bill on the completion of the project based on the word count of your draft before copyediting. My rate is based on the level of copyediting determined after my review of a sample and style sheet and starts at $0.03 per word. Marketing and publicity pieces, including newsletters and articles, are billed at a flat rate per project.
